FindMine Foundation Offers Free Breast Cancer and General Health Screenings for Chiraa Community

The FindMine Foundation, in collaboration with Jamesbert Hospital, has provided free breast cancer and general health screenings for men and women at Chiraa Market in the Sunyani West Municipality of the Bono Region.

The exercise forms part of the Foundation’s broader commitment to improving community health, empowering women, and promoting early detection and preventive care. Hundreds of traders and residents took part in the screening, which included blood pressure checks, blood sugar testing, body mass index assessments, and breast examinations.

In addition to the screening, the Foundation launched a fundraising campaign to mobilize resources toward its mission of empowering women to become self-reliant and contributing meaningfully to their communities.

Speaking during the program, Miss Lawrencia Ama Yeboah, Chief Executive Officer of the FindMine Foundation, explained that the Foundation—established in 2025—was built on the vision to empower, elevate, and educate.
She noted that FindMine is deeply committed to transforming the lives of young ladies through skilltraining, mentorship, menstrual health education, and leadership development.

“We believe every girl has something worth discovering, nurturing, and celebrating. By improving access to healthcare and education, we can help unlock that potential,” she said.

Dr. Philip Anokye, a medical practitioner at Jamesbert Hospital, lauded the Foundation’s partnership with the hospital and highlighted the importance of early health checks. He also appealed for financial support from stakeholders and benevolent organizations to enable the Foundation to continue reaching underserved communities.

Some participants, both men and women, expressed deep gratitude to the FindMine Foundation and Jamesbert Hospital for bringing quality healthcare to their doorstep.

“Most of us cannot afford regular medical check-ups, so this free screening has really helped us understand our health status,” one beneficiary shared.

As part of the ongoing health initiative, the FindMine Foundation, in partnership with Jamesbert Hospital, is also conducting free general surgeries for individuals with valid NHIS cards. The surgeries cover conditions such as lumps, swellings, fibroids, hernias, hydrocele, circumcision, and wound care.

The Chief of Chiraa and Benkumhene of the Dormaa Traditional Area, Barima Mintah Afari II, commended the Foundation for its impactful work and pledged the traditional council’s continued support.

“FindMine Foundation is doing remarkable work in improving the lives of our people. Empowering our women and supporting community health is something we fully endorse,” he stated.

Through its holistic approach that combines healthcare, education, and empowerment, the FindMine Foundation continues to champion community transformation—ensuring that every woman and man has the opportunity to live a healthier, more fulfilling life.
